Working in deprived neighborhoods changed the way Hans Moerenhout (49) looks at life and work. Facing the dynamic social complexities in the south of Rotterdam made him aware that there are new ways of organizing social development, activating the unused potential in society.

“I’m looking for organically growing processes, and an open awareness, that unfold how to act in the actual situation”. In the urban farming social enterprise ‘Bredase Kruidenakker’, which he initiated last year, he and the team of workers are managing the field of herbs in this order. Learning by doing, creating a community that facilitate new possibilities when they occur. In his talk he will share some of his personal lessons learned over the past few years.
Hans lives in Breda with his wife and two almost adult children.
